Bailey Shaffer powered Guthrie at the plate and in the circle Tuesday afternoon, willing her team to a 5-3 victory over Perkins.

Shaffer got a hit in each of her three at bats. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and fourth innings.

Shaffer (1-1) handled Perkins’ lineup with ease, racking up 13 strikeouts and allowed one earned run on six hits and two walks over seven innings.

Guthrie never trailed in the full seven inning game after scoring first in the third inning by scoring three runs highlighted by a two-run double by Madison Dutton.

Perkins was unable to overcome a five-run sixth inning deficit despite scoring three runs in the sixth to cut the lead down.

Addy Bradley added two hits while Dutton and Hannah Dean combined for two RBI’s each.

Next up will be the three-day El Reno tournament for the Guthrie ball club beginning on Thursday.
