In the month of October, BancFirst served as a donation site for the “Feeding Oklahoma” food drive.  The goal was to collect 1.4 million meals for hungry Oklahomans. With the help of generous donors and hardworking volunteers across the state, the drive ended up doubling the goal by collecting 2.9 million meals. BancFirst locations contributed 5,370 pounds of food and $271 to the cause, which will provide over 5,800 meals to Oklahomans in need. BancFirst Guthrie donated 475 lbs of food that will be distributed locally, with Jobi Swearengin leading the charge.

BancFirstGuthrie’s Personal Banker, Jobi Swearengin, single-handedly contributed 114 pounds of food, which will provide many meals to neighbors in need.

“The food drive is such a worthy cause for Oklahoma,” remarked BancFirst Guthrie President LaVerne Dowding.  “We are so proud of Jobi and the other donors in our community, and we are grateful for the contribution that the generous people of Guthrie have made to this organization. The 475 lbs of food that were generously donated will stay right here in Guthrie to feed our friends and neighbors that need a little help.”

In Oklahoma, one in four children struggle with hunger on a daily basis. The Food Bank provides food for over 90,000 people each week, but it’s not enough to keep up with the growing demand. Every $1 donated provides four meals to people in need.  Donations from generous Oklahomans are of paramount importance to keep our families fed this season.
