Bennett-Johnson voted in for school board seat

Jennifer Bennett-Johnson won the lone seat up for grabs for Guthrie Public
School’s board election carrying 76 percent of the vote.

school boardAccording to the Logan County Election Board, out of the 609 votes casted, Bennett-Johnson received 463 votes while Jonathan “JW” Williams received 146 votes or 24 percent.

The election board will certify the results on Friday, Feb. 14.

Bennett-Johnson won all three categories: election day (420-127), absentee mail (31-12) and early voting (12-7).

“Thank you guys for all of the support you rallied in getting the voters out!!!.” Bennett-Johnson said in a Facebook comment on the Logan County GOP page.

“Couldn’t have done it without you!”

This years school board election saw 51 additional voters compared to last years race (609 – 558). However, less that five percent of eligible voters voted in the election.

  2. Congratulations Jennifer! You were awesome and you will be a huge asset to the Guthrie School Board.

    I am surprised that it it was not mentioned in this article that this school board race had the highest voter turn out in the state of Oklahoma, for just having a school board election on the ballot. It was made very clear that the people’s voices were heard, loudly.

    I look forward to seeing you at the next Guthrie School Board meeting.
