Betsy Randolph promoted to Lieutenant

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is pleased to announce the promotion of Trooper Catherine E. “Betsy” (Byrd) Randolph to Lieutenant.

Randolph, daughter of Wesley D. and Joyce Byrd originally from Artesia, New Mexico, graduated from Bethel Baptist Academy, Enid, Ok. in 1988, Northern Oklahoma College with an A.A. in Journalism, Oklahoma State University with an A.S. in Horticulture and Southern Nazarene University with a B.S. in Organizational Leadership.

Randolph, who becomes just the fourth female to earn the Lieutenant position, joined the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety as a police officer with the Oklahoma Capitol Patrol in 1995. Randolph reclassified as a state trooper in 2004 when she transitioned to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Randolph has held assignments in Troop A – Oklahoma City Metro, Logan County Detachment and Troop V – Public Affairs Division, Spokesperson. Lieutenant Randolph’s new assignment will be as a supervisor with Troop R – Oklahoma City, State Capitol Section. Randolph also served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1992-2004.

She and her husband, George have two children: Whitney Sanders and Bronson Randolph and one grandchild, Cannon Sanders.

Randolph was pinned in a promotional ceremony held December 2, 2013 at the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Training Center in Oklahoma City.
