BlueJay fans traveling to McGuinness – heads up

Bookmark and Share

The defending state champions, Guthrie BlueJays, will be in another top, marquee game this week when they travel to Oklahoma City and challenge Bishop McGuinness Friday night, but fans who are planning on making the trip need to be aware of some game day situations.

The kick-off will be 30 minutes earlier at 7 p.m. and limited seating will be available for fans.

The game will match up the top-ranked BlueJays and the third ranked Irish. A Guthrie win will claim their third straight district title.

McGuinness officials contacted Guthrie administrators and asked that all Guthrie fans sit on the visitor side only. If Guthrie fans are spotted on the home side they will be asked to move.

The visitor side holds approximately 500 seats with gates opening at 5:45 p.m. A gate is on the east side with street parking and parking one block east at the shopping center.

Pribil Stadium, located at 801 N.W. 50th,  has seen improvements over the last few seasons, but has a limited number of seats with teams who travel well.

McGuinness like most 6A schools and metro teams have moved to the earlier kickoff (7 p.m.) to allow teams to return home early. The idea started two years ago with Thursday night games.

If you are unable to travel to the game or can’t find a seat, Guthrie Radio will have the call of the game beginning with the Kick Off Show at 6:30. Join Chris Evans and Casey Porter for the call on 105.1 FM, on Guthrie Sports Page or on your mobile device.

  3. I agree with xxxbritard–I don’t think it is legal nor can they enforce it. They offer unreserved seatin….first come first serve.
I think when we play McGuissness at the Rock we should designate a few rows near the band in the north end zone for their fans to sit–then police the rest the rest of the stadium and “gently” ask their fans to move or go home if they are not sitting in designated area.

I would strongly suggest Guthrie fans to dress in unmakred clothing and take up as much space as possible on their home side.

    Go Jays beat McGusiness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. catholic school right? doesnt seem very “christainy” to me. No hospitality, wheres the love for your neighbor? Lol
