BlueJays win conference; Lady Jays second

In a final tune up until this week’s Class 5A Regional, the defending track state champions brought home another championship. This time it was the Suburban Conference title and the Lady Jays came up just short and finished second.

The boys collected 182 points for a 60 point cushion win over Carl Albert. Shawnee, a Class 6A team, won the girls conference title by 16 points over the Lady Jays.

To no surprise, the boys 4 x 100 relay team of Jake Jameson, Alfonzo Wilcots, Chauncey Dumas, and Emanuel Robinson took home top honors.

Also to no surprise, freshmen sensation Rosetta Galbraith won both the 100 meters and 110 meter hurdles as did Robinson in both races.

Zac Cates, Jason Ogan, Jared Ogan, and Colin Betchan combined to win the 4 x 800 relay.

Other conference champions for the Jays include: Zac Cates in 800 meters, Chauncey Dumas in 400 meters, Zac Brown in discus, Chelsey Dumas in the shot put, and Steven Bisig in the pole vault.

For the Lady Jays, Leslie Hughes took home top honors in the  high jump and Erin Perring in the shot put to come away as conference champions.

Next up is the regional at Edmond North this Saturday with a 10am start.
