Body found inside house fire

One person was found dead inside a Logan County home on Tuesday afternoon following a house fire.

The Meridian Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) responded shortly after 2 p.m. for a structure fire in the 18000 block of E. Highway 105, which is just west of Luther Road.

Meridian Fire Chief John Pross said when they arrived to the scene, flames could be shooting out the south portion of the home.

Pross said they “had a very good knock down” on the fire within 20 minutes.

Once firefighters made their way into the home a body was discovered.

Law officials believe the fire may have been intentionaly started by the deceased inside, but that the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate.

Coyle, Sooner and Langston fire departments assisted Meridian firefighters.
