Edmond crews recovered the body of a long-time Guthrie educator from Arcadia Lake on Tuesday evening.
The Edmond police and fire departments responded to the area of the Spring Creek campsites, which sit on the north side of the lake, to recover a body found in the water.
The Edmond Police Department, along with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and family members, confirmed that the body belonged to Earl Sykes, a 73-year-old who was last seen near Memorial and May in Oklahoma City on Monday.
Sykes, 73, was a long-time educator and retired as Guthrie High School’s principal in 2004.
A Silver Alert was issued for Sykes at about 8 a.m. Tuesday. The alert said Sykes had several medical conditions that required daily medication.
His white Chevy Malibu was found parked near the lake.
