The City of Guthrie City Council has announced a vacancy for the Ward I seat, previously held by Mayor Adam Ropp. The city is now accepting applications from eligible residents interested in filling this important community role.
In accordance with the City charter, which outlines the process for filling vacancies in office, the City Council will select an eligible individual to fill the Ward I position.
This selection requires an affirmative vote from at least four members of the Council and is slated to occur at the next regular meeting following the vacancy’s creation, or as soon as practically possible thereafter.
The window for submitting applications opened Wednesday, May 7, and will conclude at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13.

To be considered for the Ward I Council seat, interested applicants must satisfy several qualifications as stipulated in the City Charter. Candidates must be citizens of the United States of America and the State of Oklahoma. They are also required to be at least 21 years of age and registered voters. Furthermore, applicants must have been residents of the City of Guthrie for the two years immediately preceding the date of the last general election and must currently reside within Ward I.
