6-foot, 207-pound linebacker Kentrell Brothers has seen his recruiting explode over the last six months. The athlete from Guthrie, Oklahoma, is up to 11 scholarship offers, including an early offer from Tulsa. He took a short trip to check out the Golden Hurricane program last weekend and told ITS that things went very well.
“It went great,” he exclaimed shortly after returning home. “I hung out with a few players and Coach (Keith) Patterson and Coach (Todd) Graham. They were fun! I enjoyed them.”
Brothers got a good look at Tulsa’s new facilities and toured the campus.
“Everything looked brand new,” he said. “(The facilities) were amazing.”
Brothers also gave his thoughts on the Tulsa program as a whole.
“They are good and will continue to be good with the coaches that they have there,” he described. “They have a dominant offense and a smash-mouth defense. When anyone plays them, they better expect a battle.”
Aside from Tulsa, Brothers said he is staying in steady contact with Missouri, Vanderbilt, Iowa State and Washington.
But where does Tulsa stand?
“They are definitely in the running,” said Brothers.
As a junior last season, Brothers was terrific on both sides of the ball. On defense, he tallied 95 stops, including 17 sacks. He also made four interceptions and two fumble recoveries. As a receiver, he collected 64 catches for 1,122 yards and 12 touchdowns.
During the offseason, Brothers is working on his all-around game, but believes he currently has a few qualities that stand out above the rest.
“Right now, it would be my leadership on the field and my ability to make big plays,” he added.
