Traffic is generally a small obstacle when schools release students for the day, but it was a touch more hectic on Tuesday afternoon after a gas line was hit causing traffic to be diverted.
Noble Ave. between 1st St. and 5th St. was shut down after a contracted construction company struck the gas line near 2nd and Noble Ave. The call came in just after 2:30 p.m.
Crews, part of the Department of Transportation’s viaduct project, were working on a sewer line when the high-pressure line was struck.
Traffic was opened back up at 4:36 p.m.
Nearby homes and businesses were not forced to vacate and no injuries were reported at the scene.
