Schools from around the Guthrie school district held assemblies Wednesday morning to honor veterans, who have served and those who are currently serving our country for Veterans Day.
First grade students at Central Elementary were ask to invite their favorite veterans to their morning assembly. In total, 30 veterans were recognized.
The assembly started with a flag salute followed up with Principal Dani Watson announcing each veteran to not only students and faculty, but several family members who were in attendance. Each veteran was given a flag on construction paper made by the students.
Afterwards to conclude the assembly, the students paid their tribute by singing “You’re a Grand Old Flag” as the veterans watched from the stage.
