Happy April!  This is designated National Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness month.  Please be aware of these problems, and don’t stand by if you can protect a child in danger.

We will be having our first Business After Hours on the 5th, at Energy Force, 115 N. 2nd St. from 5:00- 6:00. It will be a fun time of networking!  Food and beverages will be provided.

The Guthrie Educational Foundation Walk A Thon is to be held on April 5, 2012 from 4:00 – 6:00 at the HS!  All money raised goes directly back to the classrooms The Foundation recently awarded over $13,000 in grants to teachers.  Fund raising efforts such as the Walk A Thon make this kind of award possible. Community members, parents, students and GPS staff members are encouraged to attend.

Legally Blond, the Musical begins it’s run on the 6th at 8:00, and continues throughout the month and into next month!  Come and enjoy, as Elle Woods conquers intellectualism with her heart! Call the Pollard Theatre box office for ticket information, 405 282-2800.

This month we also celebrate Easter!  There will be 2 Easter Egg hunts on Saturday, the 7th!  The Kiwanis will have one at Highland Park at 9:00, and Community Church will have one at Mineral Wells at 2:00….don’t be late or you will miss them!

There will be a lot of activity the 7th, a Prohibition Pub Crawl, to celebrate the repeal of Prohibition in OK, call James Long at 405 627-8239 for information; Byron Berline will be having a concert in his Music Hall, 405 282-6646; a Special Olympics Poker Run with The Territorial Riders, www.territorialriders.com.

We were accepted into the two Corporate Road Shows this month in OKC; at Devon and at Farmer’s Insurance! They estimate 500 people will attend each show. This is a great opportunity to promote our special town!

We continue to prepare for 2 special events that will be coming up this summer: The First Capital Tri, http://www.firstcapitaltri.com and FreeWheel http://www.okfreewheel.com/. Don’t forget that TRASH OFF is this Friday and Saturday!  The city’s Convenience Center (Dump) will be free to use. Get your trash bags at The Chamber, City Hall, or the Fire Station.  Refer to The City’s website for more information, www.cityofguthrie.com, or call 405 282-2489.
