Lucy Swanson met with local artists last week and two people from the Oklahoma Arts Council. She wrote a letter of intent to the Cultural District Initiative Oversight Committee with the Oklahoma Arts council stating our desire to apply for the Cultural District Development Program. Should we be given permission to apply the program assists in the development of an Art or Cultural District and a cultural plan through a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council. Communities may participate in the program for up to five years with a maximum grant funding of $7,500 per year and maximum funding of $25,000. The Cultural District will create and support arts events, develop collaborations with the arts, local governments, and businesses within the community, and promote economic growth within the district.  Although the chamber is supporting this movement, it will actually be a community wide program.
