Chamber Chat: Health Department to hold CPR and First Aid class on December 18

Season Greetings! The Territorial Christmas Foundation has been busy all year planning this entire months’ worth of activities. We have been swamped with phone calls  inquiring about the Victorian Homes Tour which will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Tickets are sold only at the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce office located at 212 W. Oklahoma.  The Victorian Walk which is when the downtown comes alive with Victorian picturesque windows begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. I hope you can find time to bring the family out to enjoy this event!

The Logan County Health Department will hold their next CPR and First Aid class on December 18, 2014 at the First United Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall in Guthrie.  They are certified to teach the American Heart Association curriculum at no charge.  The CPR portion is from 9 to 12:30 p.m. and first aid portion is from 1 to 3:30 p.m.  They will also teach students how to use an AED.  The class is open to everyone! Deadline to sign up is December 15 by calling 282-3485

Dr. Proud Dental and his staff at Proud Dental is doing FREE Extractions December 20 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.! Christ’s Compassion Clinic is located at 324 N. 19th Street. What a blessing!

Kiwanis Christmas TV Auction is scheduled for this Saturday the 13th from 10am to 7pm at City Hall or watch it on Cox Cable Channel 20. All proceeds benefit Guthrie children.

The Byron Berline Band has an exciting evening of Traditional Bluegrass and Western swing music planned this Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. For reservations call 405-282-6646.

The Alzheimer’s Association has been meeting all year long at the Guthrie Public Library, 201 N. Division. This Saturday they are having a Christmas Reception! They would like to invite the care receiver to join them this month at their monthly meeting from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm, lunch will be provided.

There are several things going on Tuesday, December 16 first of all the Chamber is offering a class to learn about Google Apps.  Meridian Technology will bring the class to Guthrie! There is a charge for this class, call the Chamber office for more information, 282-1947. Guthrie Public Schools 7th, 8th and High School Band Students will perform a concert for the public, Tuesday, December 16 at 8pm in the Scottish Rite Temple. Admission is Free!

This week’s Chamber Coffee will be hosted by Professional Recyclers at the Granny Had One Event Center located at 312 W. Oklahoma at 9:30 am. Everyone is welcome to attend. Have a great week in Guthrie!
