There is a lot of exciting things happening this weekend in Guthrie! Homecoming is this Friday, the Alumni will meet at the High School at 9am then have an assembly at 11 and the parade is at 2pm. Guess what this year’s Homecoming theme is? The Circus! Guess what is going to be in town this weekend? The Circus!! The Student council president came in our office this week and asked if some of the performers could make it to the High School for their programs but that is when they do the tent raising. However they are going to join the High School in the parade!! What a crazy and awesome coincidence.

The Culpepper Merriweather Circus will have their tent rising Friday at 9:30am and will be giving tours that morning. There are two shows Friday evening; 5pm and 7:30pm. Saturday there are two shows: 2pm and 4:30pm. Advance tickets can be purchased at Legends Food and Sport, Rick’s Fine Chocolates and Coffees, Comet Cleaners and the Chamber of Commerce.
Safe Kids of Oklahoma is having a child safety seat checkup from 10 am to 1:30 this Saturday at the Guthrie Fire Dept. New car seats are available at a reduced cost if you qualify so bring your proof of assistance (WIC, TANF, etc.) You must be the legal guardian of the child and bring the car you drive most often to transport your child.
Guthrie –Edmond Regional Airport is hosting a Fly In Community Day from 9am to 3pm this coming Saturday! Aircraft & cars will be on display. Free lunch at noon provided by Oklahoma State Bank! Free Coffee provided by Rick’s Fine Chocolates & Coffee’s. Free FAA CAMI Flight Disorientation Simulator and Hyperbaric Chamber! Free Aircraft Rides! For kids 8-17 years of age through the EAA Young Eagles Program!
The Girl Scouts are at it again! They are having a Back to School Parent & Daughter Fun Day at the Cottonwood Flats, Sunday, Sept. 21 at 2 pm. Activities will include; Archery, science experiments, tie-dying, wood burning, games, s’mores and more! Bring a white T-shirt, pillow case or bandana to tie-dye. While there, ask a staff member about Girl Scouting! You can also enter to win door prizes including a paid Girl Scout Membership! The Annual Guthrie Road Show Celebration will be held in Mineral Wells Park all day Saturday! Byron Berline Band will be performing at the Double Stop Music Hall Saturday evening at 7:30.
Next week’s Chamber Coffee will be hosted by Companion Home Health Hospice! They are located at 1320 E. Oklahoma, everyone is welcome. Lots of things for everyone to do here in Guthrie, have a super time!!
