Hello! Last Thursday Lucy and I went to an Oklahoma Road Show in Norman at the NCED Conference Center and Hotel. I was told it’s the largest hotel in Oklahoma. It is the training center for the Postal service nationwide. We had another Road Show in Bartlesville on Tuesday at the Conoco Phillips in the Frank Phillips Tower where Lucy and Pam visited with over 600 people!
Early Monday morning Guthrie Job Corps Center Director, Ms. Priscilla Mayberry and Ms.Sharane Robinson, SGA Leadership Specialist accompanied Student Body President Mario Cedillo to present a $500 check from the student body to the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Cedillo stated, “The Chamber of Commerce supports us and we appreciate it! We believe it is important to give back to the community.” He went on to say that they appreciate all of the people who have helped them out, “especially Representative Lucas and Senator Inhoffe.” Mr Cedillo is from Texas and has been at the Center for 9 months in the security trade program. He is currently enrolled at Oklahoma State University and anticipates graduating from there in 2 years. His long term plan is to get a job with the Guthrie Police Department. “This is just an example of the quality of training that the students receive at the Job Corp. We are honored to have been recognized this way. Knowing that they could have chosen any number of ways to spend this money and that they chose to give this donation to us makes it mean even more. They are young people who just need an opportunity to be part of a community. I am glad that the students know that we are here for them.”
