Guthrie celebrated at the Capitol for inaugural Guthrie Day

April 10 marked a special occasion as the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce hosted its first-ever Guthrie Day at the State Capitol, showcasing the city’s businesses, leadership, and community pride.

Chamber staff, board members, and investors traveled to Oklahoma City for the event, which many hope will become an annual tradition. The day highlighted Guthrie’s impact and potential through recognition and connection with state leaders.

Senator Chuck Hall introduced the Guthrie delegation during the Oklahoma Senate’s daily session, while Representative Collin Duel echoed the recognition from the House floor.

“Friends and people who are like family to me, whom I’ve known my whole life, visited,” Duel said. “Their influence has been instrumental in making me who I am today. They are the ones who sent me to the House to represent the community that I love. I couldn’t be more proud of recognizing them and welcoming them to the state’s newer Capitol.”

In the Capitol Rotunda, Guthrie investors had the opportunity to set up displays and share information about their businesses with legislators, staff, and visitors. The showcase gave attendees a chance to learn more about Guthrie’s economic and cultural contributions to the state.

During a gathering in the Rotunda, several state leaders spoke to the Guthrie group, including Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell, House Speaker Kyle Hilbert, Representative John Pfeiffer, Representative Duel, and Senator Hall. Their remarks praised Guthrie’s historical significance, community engagement, and bright future.

“It was great speaking at Guthrie Day at the Capitol – arguably the most historic town in Oklahoma,” Pinnell said. “Guthrie community leaders have invested heavily in downtown development, and it shows. Also, thanks to support from the local Chamber, multiple film productions have taken advantage of Guthrie’s historic charm.”

With strong participation and enthusiastic response, Guthrie Day at the Capitol highlighted the power of local voices at the state level and set the tone for continued civic involvement in the years ahead.

“It was incredible to see so many Guthrie residents at the Capitol last week. It reminded me how grateful I am to represent such a vibrant and historic community that has welcomed me with open arms,” Hall said.
