Both the Guthrie girls and boys soccer teams will finally be back on their home turf starting next week after a three game road stand.
The third road game was not what the Jays and Lady Jays wanted as the Chargers swept the double-header with the Lady Jays falling 7-0 and the Jays dropping an overtime setback 3-2.
The Lady Jays have dropped their last five games and have been shut out in their last three. The games do not get easier with Class 5A’s fourth ranked team coming to town next Tuesday.
In the boys game, Memorial scored the first and second goals to jump out to a quick 2-0 lead. Both goals came in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Guthrie, who had the wind in the first half, got goals from Zac Olson and Esau Paez to tie the game at two. Derek Kelley and Correy Whoolery assisted the goals.
However, Tulsa Memorial got the overtime goal to win 3-2.
Much like the Lady Hornets, the Tulsa Washington boys team is ranked fourth in 5A this week. The Hornets visit Guthrie Tuesday with the girl’s game starting at 5:30 and the boys to follow at 7:00.
