Boys soccer off to a good start

The Guthrie boys soccer team got off to a quick start to the 2010 season with a trip to the 20th annual Rose Rock Tournament in Noble.

The Jays lost in the championship game to Heritage High School (AR) 5-0. Heritage is a Class 7A Arkansas school and competes in the highest class in the state.

Before that, Guthrie opened the season with a 1-0 win over Ada and a 2-1 decision over tournament host Noble.

Sage Russell scored both goals in the win over Noble with both assists coming from Correy Whoolery.

The Jays (2-1) will be back in action Tuesday (March 9th) along with the Lady Jays when they travel to Carl Albert. Game time begins at 5:30 for the ladies. The first home game of the season will be Thursday (March 11) when they host Shawnee.
