Easu Paez was just about all the Guthrie BlueJay soccer team needed in the win
over Harrah with his two goals, but it was Zack Cates who helped forced the Jays over Harrah 3-2. However, it was not all good news as the Lady Jays dropped a 3-0 decision to the Lady Panthers.
The BlueJays have now won two games in a row and stand at 4-2 on the season and the girls fall to 0-3. Harrah was the first of three games away from the home field before they set camp for a four game home stretch.
The same goes for the Lady Jays, who with the boys, travel to Coweta on Friday for the beginning of district play. The girls are set to go at 5:30.
Both Guthrie teams are playing in the district three region with all East side teams. Guthrie is considered an East team despite being on the West side of the state.
The district is made up of: Guthrie, Coweta, Tulsa Memorial, Booker T. Washington, Tulsa Edison, Tahlequah, Tulsa Hale, and Tulsa Rogers.
In the latest rankings that were released yesterday (March 23rd) T. Washington, who lost in last years state championship game, is ranked third in 5A for the boys and on the girls side T. Washington is third, Tulsa Edison is sixth, and Coweta is ranked 10th.
