Baseball slams home two conference wins

Senior John Cotton visits with assistant coach Robbie Rainwater in a game earlier this season.

Mother nature played her role on Monday by canceling the BlueJays game on the road at Western Heights, and the Jays took advantage Tuesday evening at Squires Field in a double-header.

The Jays, who moved up in the 5A polls to number seven, collected 21-1 and 16-3 wins over North division conference foe Western Heights at the ball yard. In the process, Guthrie improves their record to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play.

Corbin Crockett and Zac Bobo were both credited with pitching wins. Crockett now stands at 3-1 and Bobo at 4-0 on the bump.

Guthrie had four big flies by four different Jays including John Cotton (2), Dustin Bowman (1), Bobo (1), and Hayden Seifert (1).

The Jays will remain at home for their next three dates that includes Del City (Thursday), a 3-way with Chandler and Kingfisher (Saturday), and El Reno (Monday).
