Charges filed on two Guthrie men connected with downtown car thefts

Two 18-year-old males were in front of a Logan County judge on Wednesday and charged with breaking into downtown auto businesses during a crime spree in downtown Guthrie last week.

Nathanel Matthew Barker and Brett Cleveland Jenkins, both of Guthrie, were charged with second degree burglary, two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle and one charge of conspiracy to commit burglary in the second degree.

In addition, Jenkins was charged with possession of meth.

Three juveniles have also been investigated, but due to their ages no information was released.

According to court papers, Jenkins and Barker conspired together with Barker acting as a lookout while Jenkins entered the business.

If found guilty on the four charges, the two males could face up to 10 years in prison.

Both were handed down a $15,000 bail and are expected to be back in court on July 16 at 9 a.m.

  1. Obviously these two idiots feel they have the right to steal and destroy what is NOT theirs. Too lazy to get a job and work for their own stuff, they feel justified in doing what they did. Sad to say but it’s highly doubtful that even jail time will help either one…our city will just be lessened two thieves while they are locked up but in time, they will steal from another hard working citizen.

  2. They need to do hard time and more than 15 yrs. These guys are idiots for sure… need to get a job! Give them the electric chair if you ask me

  3. That’s kind of harsh the electric chair? What a hateful person but I do agree on prison with there dumb selfs.they are teens who fell into the wrong stuff which isn’t a reason to die that is reserved for rapists and murderers

  4. To everyone just talking bad, yes they dd some pretty fucked up things. And yes they will learn their lesson. But it doesn’t mean to give them the electric chair. What the hell is wrong with you? You should get the electric chair just for saying that. There are people out there that care about these kids, me included. They’ll learn from their mistakes once they go to jail and that will be it. They grew up in a bad place and that isn’t their fault. They watched their parents do the exact same thing when they were younger and that’s what they think is okay. No it doesn’t give them the right to do it but they’ll learn. I feel bad for them and hope they don’t get a long time because I know a lot of people out there will be hurt for what they did.

  5. Okay while i agree they severely messed up, to try and give the electric chair is quite dramatic. Theyre barely adults, obviously wrapped in the wrong crowd. Im betting five years and a little damn incouragement to turn their lives around, would go so much farther than these ignorant comments.

  6. At least one of these was involved in the break-ins at Cotteral & the Jr High and the burning down of Banner school. They have a storied Juvenile record. But now they are 18 and will have to do some real time. Hopefully they will see that bad decisions like this are not all fun & games. Praying the for the other juveniles that are following along with these 2… This is not the Drama you need to be using as a Role Model. This is very poor Thug behavior and will end up getting you time behind bars too. Such a sad use of your time…

  7. i do not like theifs enuff said. ill be watching
