Kaitlyn High shared her service project idea of building a disc golf course inside Highland Park.

She provided ideas and forming a research committee to over-look the project. High was joined in the initial meeting with Guthrie police officer Anthony Gibbs, Parks and Public Grounds Superintendent Verdell Smith, City Director of Planning and Economic Development Cody Mosley, Municipal Services Director Maxine Pruitt, Courtney McLemore with the Logan County Department of Health, Sean Turk and Sherry High.

High shared her intents of engaging with Tom Lowery, a professional disc golf course designer, with the design and utilize both paid and volunteer labor to create a fun and challenging course for our whole community to enjoy.

The plan would be to sell perpetual advertising and accept private donations to fund the construction expenses.

“The ultimate goal of these efforts is to use community funds to cover the startup costs of a disc golf park on publically-owned land that will be maintained through a private-public partnership,” a press release stated.
