Community banker Chuck Hall announces for State Senate

Small businessman and community banker Chuck Hall announced today he is running for the open state senate seat being vacated by Guthrie Republican AJ Griffin.

“I am a proud public school graduate, where my life was positively impacted by teachers and administrators who continue to dedicate their lives to educating children,” Hall said.  “I believe it’s time to return the favor by making public education a top priority and investing in our teachers, students and schools.”

Hall said he would make education funding his top priority in the legislature, including a long-overdue teacher pay increase.

“The budget crisis has harmed so many different institutions in our state, but none more than public education,” said Hall. “We have districts who literally can’t afford to stay open five days a week, and teachers who qualify for government assistance because they don’t make enough money. It’s time for a change.”

Hall is a third-generation Oklahoma community banker, serving as CEO of Exchange Bank and Trust Co. for the past decade. The bank has locations in Perry and Stillwater, serving thousands of families in the region.

“As a small businessman and banker, I understand the vital importance of budgeting and improving the bottom line,” said Hall. “I think we could use more elected leaders who have business experience and know the importance of pro-business policies that encourage job growth and economic development.”

Hall is an active member of the community, and has served on numerous boards and volunteered for many non-profit organizations, including the Leadership Oklahoma board of directors.  Hall is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma XIII.

“I believe in public service and community service,” said Hall. “I want to help our state get moving in the right direction again so my children and grandchildren can enjoy even better opportunities than the ones I’ve been blessed with over the years.”

Hall and his wife of 24 years, Amy, have three daughters and two grandchildren.
