After more than three years, the City of Guthrie is moving forward with construction of Harrison St. in front of Jelsma Stadium.
The Guthrie City Council voted 6-0 Monday to award the construction bid to Young Contracting LLC for the Harrison Street project located from Division St. to Broad and Wentz to Jelsma Stadium.
A total of five bids were received with with the lowest bid coming in at $519,211.20.
The project will include demo of existing structure, stabilization of existing rock wall, construction of concrete wall, drainage work, utility cut and caps, back fill, and road way installation.
In June 2017, the City was forced to reduce the weight restriction on Harrison following a bridge inspection, which lays over the facility storage of Jelsma Stadium, that was built-in the 1930’s as part of the WPA project. The City attempted to fund the project multiple times through the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) with grant applications, but were denied in October 2017 and February 2019.
The estimated start date is Jan. 5 with an estimated completion date of June 5.
