Council approves bonus for city manager

The Guthrie city council unanimously voted Monday evening to give the city manager a bonus.

Following an executive session meeting of forty minutes, the council voted 6-0 to give Leroy Alsup a bonus of $2,500.

Mayor Steve Gentling says the bonus is an appreciation and endorsement for his work in the past year.

Vice Mayor Ed Wood made the motion and was seconded by council woman Sharyl Padgett.

There was no discussion on the motion.

Alsup, who is currently serving in Oklahoma Leadership, has served in his current role for the City since Feb. 6, 2017.

Under Alsup’s leadership and department heads, the City began this fiscal year with a beginning balance of almost $1.2M compared to $473,519 in 2017.

Manager Alsup deserves every dime. Under his leadership, Guthrie has seen monumental changes. I appreciate every decision made. The only time SUCCESS comes before WORK is in the dictionary. -Alston Ingram Jr, 33 years REALTOR® (Ret.)
