On October 23rd at 6 p.m. the Guthrie City Council will host a special open forum workshop to discuss the consideration of increasing Hotel/Motel sales tax.
The increase mentioned would rise from 4% to 8% to benefit the Convention and Visitors Bureau and Parks Department. The workshop will be held in the 3rd Floor Conference Room inside City Hall.
Citizens are welcome to come to find out more information or voice their opinion on the matter.
Working in that area, I always felt 4 per cent was too low. If it will make a real difference, I feel the higher rate is able to be realistic without affecting trade in the hotel industry.
