County burglars caught in the act, arrested

Three men have been arrested and are now being questioned about a string of burglaries in four counties, including three separate rural burglaries in far northwest Logan County.

Crime 06112013On the morning of June 9, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to area of the county and was able to obtain images taken from several game cameras that provided good images of the suspects and vehicles involved. This allowed the Sheriff’s Office to publicize the images to warn the public and look for tips.

Deputies learned the same types of burglaries were occurring in nearby Kingfisher, Garfield, and Noble Counties. All were similar in nature, time frame and geographic location.

During this investigation, deputies recovered a stolen 1990 Suzuki Mini Truck that was being used in several of these rural burglaries. This vehicle had been stolen from Garfield County on May 12.

On June 15, the suspects were spotted in rural Kingfisher County by a resident who interrupted them burglarizing their property. The suspects fled and were followed by the victim’s into Oklahoma City, where they were subsequently stopped and arrested.

The suspects have been identified as Keenan Young, 40, Joseph Avery, 30, and William Maupin, 35.

All of the involved counties have been advised of the arrests, and are actively involved in the investigation and prosecution of these suspects for the crimes that took place in their jurisdictions.

“The Logan County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the media and the public for their continued assistance and vigilance in improving the safety of all citizens,” Logan County Captain Richard Stephens said.

  2. Glad they caught them too. It’s a dirty shame that you work like a dog then all you get is behind. Guys like this just pour salt in the wound. Hopefully they’ll have plenty of time to think about what they did while they live with an overly affectionate roommate down at the jail.
