Crescent gears up for storm debris cleanup

Following the recent storms that swept through Crescent last week, the City of Crescent has announced a comprehensive storm debris brush pickup for Tuesday, July 9th.

Crescent Public Works will undertake the cleanup, making only one pass through the town. Residents are urged to prepare their debris in accordance with the city’s guidelines to ensure a smooth and efficient process.

The storm cleanup aims to clear organic tree and brush debris resulting from the storms. Residents must adhere to the following rules:

  1. Debris Specifications: Only organic tree and brush debris from the recent storms will be collected. Construction materials will not be accepted.
  2. Size Limitations: Debris must not exceed 10 feet in length.
  3. Placement: Debris must be piled at the curbside of the road.
  4. Collection Method: Debris must be suitable for mechanical grapple pickup, as there will be no hand collection.
  5. Safety Considerations: Ensure debris is not placed near fences, mailboxes, or gas meters, which could pose hazards during mechanical pickup.

Residents should be aware that while the mechanical grapple will collect the bulk of the debris, some hand cleanup may be required afterward. Smaller remaining debris can be disposed of in regular trash cans.

This initiative underscores the city’s commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring a safe environment for all residents.
