On Monday morning, Supt. Dr. Mike Simpson surprised Mechelle Helmberger with a gift in front of her students.
Helmberger, a first grade teacher at Central Elementary, was presented with a $500 check from the Edmond Board of Realtors.
In March, Helmberger was named both the Elementary Teacher of the Year and the District Teacher of the Year.
“We want to thank the Edmond Board of Realtors for their support of education in our community,” Simpson said.
