District Two: Midwest Blvd. will be closed through August

The last several weeks have been tough. The worst damage was the partial washout of Midwest south of Charter Oak. There were several addition roads that had serious washouts.  Though we had few washouts on the main roads, our drainage ditches and culverts will take a while to clean and repair. Most new potholes on asphalt roads are being filled by our full time pothole patcher and his asphalt trailer.

Our heavy equipment efforts the last few days have been focused on drainage for CR 71 between Westminster and Anderson. Gravel and shale are being hauled daily into the district as the rains have revealed weak places in our county road system. Currently, we are gravelling Choctaw Rd from Waterloo to Simmons.

The new bridge on Prairie Grove Rd at Hiwassee is open for traffic this weekend. District 2 will complete the straightening of the road over Coopers Hill. The paving of Green Oaks Way and Cedar Ln is complete. There is still finish work required.

There are changes coming to Charter Oak Rd from Douglas to Henney. Our current paving project on Anderson should start back up next week. Westminster dirt work should start soon. It is looking more like September or October as a start for Roller Coaster Rd reconstruction. Clearing of the easement around the bridge on CR 76 between Peebly and Luther should begin this month.

ODOT plans to open the new westbound lanes on Hwy 33 at I-35 this Wednesday. Signal lights should be functioning the following week.

The new Loves Truck Stop is midway through construction. Midwest will be closed through August while Loves replaces the 24′ road with a 32′ road. Another waterline from the Guthrie water tower facility going to Loves for high pressure fire hydrants is about to start on the east side of Midwest Blvd.

Dump your unwanted furniture, appliances and junk at the District 2 roll off dumpster, not in the creek. It is free to Logan County residents (non commercial) to use. We are located at 1550 N Midwest which is one mile north of the new Loves Truckstop being constructed at the I-35/Hwy 33 intersection. While Midwest is closed, College is the best way to get here. Our hours are 7:30-4 M-F.

Do not count on “someone else” to keep us informed on road conditions. We will respond as soon as we are able. Our office is 282-3405 and my cell is 405-650-0384 and I text. Or email us at commissiondistrict2@gmail.com.
