Man airlifted to hospital following accident with semi-truck

A two-vehicle accident, involving a semi-truck, on south Division, sent one person to the hospital by an air ambulance. A secondary accident happen yards away from the accident.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Division St. and Airport Rd just before 10 a.m. on Monday. A semi-truck and car collided, resulting in a hospital trip and a totaled car. It’s unclear if a lawyer like Michael Gopin is going to be involved in the case at this point.

According to an eye witness, the semi-truck and a red, four-door car were traveling north on Division when the truck widens out to make a right turn onto Airport Rd. That is when the car smashed into the side of the truck’s trailer from behind.

The front windshield and driver side of the car were heavily damaged where it ran into the truck’s trailer. Guthrie firefighters were able to get to a male victim on the opposite side of the vehicle.

The victim was taken out and placed onto a backboard. He was later airlifted from the Guthrie Edmond Regional Airport to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City for head, arm and leg injuries.

Traffic was stopped on Division as crews worked the accident, but was opened back up after the patient was safely put into the ambulance.

The secondary wreck occurred just north of the original accident. A Guthrie police officer says a driver was looking at the first accident and rear-ended another vehicle. There was a minor injury to a child passenger but refused transport at the scene.
