Preliminary information from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety shows 58 traffic-related fatalities in May 2016, compared to 52 in the same month last year.
Some 53 of the fatality victims were Oklahoma residents.
The number of fatalities on each type of roadway: U.S. highways, 15; county roads, 15; state highways, 12; city streets, 10; interstate highways, 4; turnpikes, 2.
Some 34 of the fatality victims were drivers; 10 were passengers; seven were pedestrians; seven were motorcycle operators.
The daily fatality numbers include 11 deaths on Sundays; nine on Mondays; seven on Tuesdays; seven on Wednesdays; nine on Thursdays; seven on Fridays; eight on Saturdays. There were eight days in the month of May with no reported fatalities.
According to police reports, three fatalities were alcohol-related.
There were 19 female victims and 39 male victims.
Four of the victims were age 20 or younger. The 46- to 50-year-old age group had the most fatalities with seven. Both the 21- to 25-year-old age group and the 61- to 65-year-old age group had six.
Oklahoma County led the state with a total of nine fatalities, followed by Bryan County with five.
Some 56.1 percent of those who died in traffic collisions were not wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.
