DPS: Fatality report for the month of February

Department of Public Safety officials report 28 traffic-related fatalities in February 2015 compared to 34 in the same month last year.

Guthrie News PageThe highest daily fatality numbers include 6 deaths on Saturdays and Sundays dropping to 5 on Fridays. There were ten days in the month of February with no reported fatalities.

Three of the fatality crashes were alcohol-related. Twenty-eight of the fatality victims were Oklahoma residents. There were 18 male and 10 female victims. Five of the fatality victims were under the age of 20. The 21-to 30-year-old age group led the fatality count with 9.

Oklahoma County led the state with a total of four fatalities, followed by Grady County with three fatalities. The highest number of fatalities occurred on county roads and interstate highways with seven. There were six fatalities on state highways.

Forty-eight percent of those who died in traffic collisions were not wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.
