Drake, Zubord named FFA proficiency award finalist

Britton Drake and Kynseth Zubrod, of the Guthrie FFA chapter, have been selected as state finalists in the award area of Outdoor Recreation & Equine Science.

Three finalists are selected in 47 agricultural proficiency award categories, and the state winner in each area will be announced during the 99th Annual State FFA Convention to be held May 6-7 at the Arvest Convention Center and BOK Arena in downtown Tulsa.

In addition to receiving a plaque and cash award, finalists will enjoy an honors luncheon with their sponsors. The Awards Luncheon is sponsored by AAON, Blue Bell Creameries, Cimarron Trailers, Farm Credit Associations of Oklahoma, Gilbert and Sons Trucking/Randy and Suzanna Gilbert, Koch Fertilizer, Oklahoma Air National Guard, Oklahoma Army National Guard, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture, ONEOK, Public Service Company of Oklahoma, Triangle Cooperative Service Company, and the Oklahoma Beef Council.

The state winner in each area will represent Oklahoma in the national FFA competition this fall in Indianapolis, Ind.

Proficiency awards recognize excellence in a supervised agricultural experience program and exceptional accomplishment in progressing toward specific agricultural career objectives. These awards encourage members to develop specialized skills to apply toward future careers. Members are recognized at the local, state, and national levels for their accomplishments.+
