While the number of Logan County earthquakes being felt appears to be down in 2017, many county residents continue to shake, especially those who live near Highway 105.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has recorded six earthquakes in the past six days (four in the last two days) with all six centered just north of Highway 105 in the eastern portion of the county.
The largest of the quakes was felt Wednesday evening at 10:22 p.m. with a 3.4 magnitude near the intersection of E. College Ave. and N. Anderson Road. It was measured 6.2 miles deep.
The next largest quake was recorded Thursday morning with a 3.0 reading. The quake hit at 2:05 a.m. just north of College Ave. between Hiwassee Road and Henney Road. It was 1.9 miles deep.
Two smaller quakes (2.3 and 2.4) were also felt in recent days.
Earlier this week on Monday, a 3.0 quake was felt at 7:47 a.m. just east of Henney Road between Cooksey Road and College Ave.
The USGS recorded a 2.9 tremor on Saturday (Dec. 16) north of College Ave. between Hiwassee Road and Henney Road.
There were no immediate reports of any damages with the quakes.
In 2016, Oklahoma recorded 639 quakes of 3.0 magnitude or higher. The last report for 2017 (3.0 or higher in magnitude) showed 137 quakes.
