EMSA issues 2nd heat alert this summer

Bookmark and Share

Not even 24 hours later, EMSA has issued another heat alert due to the extreme heat.

This is the second heat alert this summer. EMSA had lifted a 58 day heat alert in Oklahoma City on Sunday, ending the city’s longest heat alert in eight years. EMSA dispatchers said they did not answer one heat related call on Sunday.

By 3:30 Monday afternoon, EMSA paramedics responded to six patients suffering from heat related illness, thus prompting EMSA to issue the second heat alert.

EMSA has responded to 313 heat related calls since June 17. EMSA issues a heat alert after paramedics respond to five or more heat-related medical calls within a 24-hour period and dangerously hot weather is expected to continue.
