FCC successful with Worship in the Park service in Mineral Wells Park

First Christian Church held its first “Worship in the Park” Sunday morning at Mineral Wells Park. The church is hopeful they can make it an annual event.

The morning started with a potluck breakfast followed up with old-fashioned gospel songs performed by the Bovine Band. Afterwards, Rev. Amy Rogers led the message about heritage and the future.

An estimated 250 people took in the event and felt the weather cooperate with an abundance of sunshine.

The church is in the early stages of a two-year Capital Campaign – A Foundation for Our Future.

“We are anxious to see our final tally after this morning, but we know we at least met our $35,000 challenge in matching funds, which now puts us over $100,000 in funds pledged/raised toward our $300,000 goal,” Karen Allen said.

Benefiting the goal on Sunday was the 27 pies that were auctioned off by well-known Guthrie auctioneer Dennis Ochs.
