Fire Chief declares immediate burn ban within Guthrie city limits

Effective immediately, Fire Chief Eric Harlow has placed the City of Guthrie in a burn ban.

Harlow says the ban is being enacted due to the prolonged dry conditions and little to no forecasted precipitation in the near future.  This burn ban includes all areas within the Guthrie city limits only.  Outside of the city limits, state law on burning still applies unless changed by the Governor or the Board of County Commissioners.

The Chief goes on to say no outdoor burning will be allowed and no burn permits will be issued.  This includes trash, brush piles, grass and debris.

Outdoor cooking devices, such as smokers, gas grills and charcoal grills are still allowed.

All current burn permits will considered null and void until conditions improve and the ban is lifted.  If you have a burn permit and need it renewed after the ban is lifted, please contact the Guthrie Fire Department at 405-282-4433.
