Fire departments, friends mourning Crescent Fire Captain

Fire departments across the state are expressing their condolences to the Crescent Fire Department after one of their Captains died on Friday.

According to the Facebook post, Captain Jason Smith, 43, passed away due to medical issues surrounded by friends and family around noon on Friday.

“I’ve known Jason for almost 20 years,” Guthrie Fire Department Chief Eric Harlow said. “We’ve grown in the fire service together and have shared a ton of great memories. Please keep his family and our brothers at Crescent in your prayers!”

Logan County Deputy Chase Biggs, a former Crescent Police Chief, said Smith always put others first.

“He was always willing to serve the community and put others before himself. Definitely lost a good guy. Rest easy buddy.”

Smith’s memorial services are pending.
