On July 21 the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce and the Guthrie YMCA will be joining forces to host the inaugural First Capital Triathlon in Guthrie. The inaugural Guthrie First Capital Triathlon will be an exciting opportunity for beginners and veteran triathletes alike.
This sprint triathlon, which is being held in one of the most historic communities in the United States, will be an exciting opportunity for beginners and veteran triathletes alike. The event will have a USAT sanctioned course and will consist of a 500 meter swim, 12.5 mile bike, and 5k run. Standard USAT Age Group awards will be given and there will be great souvenirs including a quality, soft cotton t-shirt and race mementos for all participants.

Registration for the race will remain open until Tuesday, July 17, but prices go up the closer it gets to race day. The Guthrie First Capital Triathlon will only be accepting on-line registration. You can register and get more information at www.firstcapitaltri.com.

Letters were sent to residents between Seward Road and Triplett Road. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. in the morning and should go for a couple of hours.
“We want to let people know to be careful when on the road and watch for people biking and running that morning,” chamber President Mary Coffin said.
