First Christian Church set for Mission Sunday 2015

Bookmark and Share

Mission Sunday 2015 kicks off this Sunday and again features churches across Guthrie working together to do projects that better the community. Mission Sunday features the theme “One Sunday. One Mission” and began four years ago as a project of First Christian Church and expanded to a community-wide event last year with more than 250 people participating.
A crew of children and adults make bars of soap and lip gloss that were taken to the Maudie Hirshie Shelter.

Mission Sunday begins like any other church service, but is cut short and teams break up and are sent out to be the body of Christ.

12 crews will be formed from a yard crew, parks and public area clean-up crew, technology hook-up crew, a cooking crew and a cleanup crew, among others. Complete list and t-shirt order form.

The cooking team will prepare meals that will be frozen and given out to those in need following surgeries or any other situation a family may face.

Everyone will meet at FCC at 11:15 a.m. to begin gathering in groups and for lunch. Each crew will have lunch provided (free) and then launch for various projects!
