A former Guthrie police officer will be bound over for trial after a judge ruled there was enough evidence that a crime may have been committed after hearing a nearly three hour preliminary hearing.
Bryan Lee Crumb, 36, was inside the Logan County Courthouse on Monday afternoon facing a charge of causing an accident resulting in great bodily injury while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Throughout the entire 2 hour, 23 minute pre-trial, Crumb was seen not making eye contact with anyone in the courtroom (excluding his attorney) while taking notes on a notepad.
The accident occurred near Crumb’s residence. After striking his child (8-years-old at the time) with his vehicle, Crumb attempted to drive the child to Mercy Logan County Hospital, but in the process was in another accident approximately a mile away. No damage was reported in the second incident.
The child was flown to OU Children’s Hospital and spent four days in the hospital with injuries to the head, ear, face, back and ankle. Tosha Crumb, the mother, testified the child had fracture ribs and had a puncture lung.
Bryan Crumb told officers his child wanted to go and get her bike and ride with a friend. He agreed and said he would follow her. Then he says the child grabbed the car door as he was pulling up the street and dragged her under the car.
Sgt. Jeremy Thorne with the Guthrie Police Department testified for 90 minutes and stated he could smell alcohol on Crumb’s person at the scene. Crumb was later taken to the hospital for a blood draw. The results of the blood test was not given in the hearing, but according to a court document, the blood alcohol test came back with a reading of .119, which is over the legal limit (.08).
Crumb’s attorney, Steve Fabian, questioned Thorne on several topics, including how the blood test was performed and delivered to the lab, consent of the test, why was Crumb not arrested, why no citations were issued and only one clue (out of 15 possible) was found during his field sobriety test.
In January 2016, Crumb was arrested after allegedly arriving for his shift at the police department intoxicated and smelling of alcohol. Crumb is expected back in court on Sept. 15 at 9 a.m.
