GHS Pink Week to help benefit Jamie Mugai

The annual Pink Week is underway at Guthrie High School this week as they raise funds and bring awareness for cancer patients. Now, the public can help join the cause.

This year’s recipient is Jamie Mungai.

Jamie, who is a mother of two including a GHS sophomore, has been a special education teacher for 17 years with 11 years in Guthrie.

She is now a therapist specializing in children with Autism, developmental disabilities and those in foster care.

Jamie, a 1994 graduate of GHS, was diagnosed with cancer this past April, underwent surgery in May and in June began her chemo.

To help students raise funds you can stop by the high school (200 Crooks Dr.) and grab a Pink Week shirt.

At Friday night’s game, a silent auction of a variety of baskets will be made available for bids until halftime.

In addition, you can dine in Guthrie to help support the cause. Local eateries have agreed to give back 10 percent to help Jamie.

Stacy’s Place will give proceeds from 3 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, Stables Cafe from 3 – 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25 and Guthrie Nutrition on Sept. 25 from 4 – 7 p.m.
