The Guthrie High School softball team is riding an 8-game win streak as they get set for road games this week.

Head coach Booker Blakley’s squad is 16-5 overall and 9-1 in District 5A-2.

The Lady Jays currently sit in second place behind Piedmont, who is 28-2 and 13-0 in district games, including a 6-3 win in Guthrie back on Aug. 16.

Guthrie has a one-game advantage over Noble, who sits in third place in the district. The top two teams to finish in the standings will host regionals in October.

Out of district play, Guthrie dominated both Bethany and Edmond North in the Guthrie Festival with 9-1 wins.

The Lady Jays travel to Noble Monday for the key matchup. Guthrie won their home opener (Aug. 9) against Noble, 3-0, in a shortened game due to weather.

Guthrie is back on the road Tuesday with a trip to Piedmont.

The week will end with the Chickasha Festival with Elgin and Chickasha.
