GHS student wins Poetry Out Loud contest

Guthrie High School student Izeck Escobar advanced to the State Poetry Out Loud Contest after winning his most recent contest.

The state event will take place at the University of Central Oklahoma on March 7.

Poetry Out Loud is a free poetry recitation contest for high-school students (grades 9-12) in both public and private schools.

Poetry Out Loud encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation.

This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.
