GPS announces public forums for upcoming bond election

Bookmark and Share

Two public forums have been finalized for patrons of the Guthrie Public School District to discuss the upcoming bond election slated for May 12. Representatives from the Board of Education and administration will be present as well as The Stacy Group Architects.

SchoolThe election will decide if the district will issue bonds for projects totaling $16.2 million that would be sold in a series over the next three years.  Identified renovation projects for Central Elementary, Fogarty Elementary, Guthrie Upper Elementary, Junior High and High School are a part of the bond issue. The other component is construction of a new elementary school to be built on land recently purchased by the school district near the intersection of Charter Oak Road and Douglas Boulevard.

The first forum is sponsored by the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce and will be held on May 4 at the Territorial Capitol Sports Museum located at 315 W. Oklahoma in Guthrie. The second forum is sponsored by the Logan County Economic Development Council and will be held on May 7 at the Lazy E Arena Cantina located at 9600 Lazy E Drive in rural Guthrie.

Both forums will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the public is invited.
