Guthrie Public Schools announced they will begin conducting evacuation drills for each bus route during the first two weeks of school.
The school district says Oklahoma state law requires school districts conduct emergency evacuation drills for each bus route during the first two weeks of school.
The school district began conducting the drills before the Monday afternoon routes. The drills are expected to run approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
GPS says a letter is being provided for parents in advance of the scheduled date of the drill.
“In the event of an emergency we want the students to be aware and prepared to exit the bus in an organized manner,” a social media post read on the district’s Facebook page.
