Guthrie fans get to Meet the Jays

Guthrie fans filled up the home stands of Jelsma Stadium on Saturday evening for the annual Meet the Jays.

Guthrie Junior high and high school athletic teams, along with the Guthrie High School band, were introduced to friends, family and fans.

Each coach for cross country, softball, cheer, band and football teams introduced their student athletes.

This year’s event was sponsored by John Vance Motors, who outside the stadium were given test drives on Buick vehicles – in part of a fundraiser for the Guthrie Educational Foundation and the Football Booster Club.

For each test drive, the foundation received $20 in hopes of reaching a goal of $10,000.

The car dealership also sponsored a tailgate party with the support of the booster club.

The softball program is currently 1-0, while the cross country and football teams await their season openers.
